Fry Club Colts
Avon Youth League Cup Final. Jack 2, Ryan 3, Jamie, Dan, Sergio, Jay Jay.

Well today the boys played the first of their 2 cup finals. Fry Club Colts were the opposition, and despite beating them twice already this season a tough game was expected. The weather was set fair and a Crowd of at least 150 people in attendance. The teams came out to a hail of cheers and a cheap sounding horn. (Neil!). Most pre-match predictions were for a City win in the region of 6-3, 5-2. Basically a High scoring win.

Starting line up was

George

Aaron Anthony Luke Harry

Jack Dan Sam Sergio

Ryan Jamie

Subs: Shane, Billy, Robbie, Harrison, Jay Jay.

The first ten minutes were very scrappy as both teams struggled to gain any fluency in their game. Fry’s set out their game plan, lunching long throws into the box and trying to get balls up to their strong forwards and matched City man for man. However when Ryan put Jamie through to round the keeper and score at the second Attempt the game changed. Suddenly City found their passing game. Jack started to find space down the right and Serg down the left and City started to play the sort of football they can. Jack got the second with a shot come cross which looped into the far corner. Another good ball put Ryan down the right and he crossed for Jamie. The keeper saved Jamie’s shot , there was a bit of a scramble and Ryan came from nowhere to put the ball away. To be honest Frys looked shell-shocked. One minute they were in the game, 4 minutes later they’re 3 down.

From then on City really bossed the game all over the pitch. Sam And Dan controlled the middle, Ant and Luke at the back. Jack put in the perfect near post corner for Dan to head home the fourth. Then the boys scored a fantastic counter attack goal, with Jack again involved putting Ryan through to cross for Jamie’s second, 5-0. The 6th goal saw Serg put a ball into the box which the keeper dropped and Ryan put away for his second. Fry’s did to their credit keep playing the ball up to their 2 forwards And Callum Fry scored a beauty right into top corner. Fair play -great goal Callum. The boys still had time to get a seventh before half time, when after good footwork from Jay (who had come on for Jamie), Sergio put a lose ball away into the bottom right corner .Half-time 7-1. Hardly believable, but there was no doubt it was deserved. One notable point was how well Harry and Aaron got forward down the flanks, both linking up play and supporting Jack and Serg.

Second-half Shane, Billy, Robbie and Harrison came on. The game took a while to get going again and Frys really worked hard to not concede more. As the second half wore on the Frys players started to tire and Harrison got more involved in the middle. Both Ant And Luke continued to dominate their forwards and Billy and Shane carried on the good work down the wings. Billy worked really hard to tackle their biggest lump, who thought he might get better luck being marked by someone half his size - but alas no he still couldn’t beat his man. George still had time for a couple of crazy keeper theatrics, think 1990 World Cup Colombian keeper miles off his line and Bruce Grobbelaar combined, which kept everyone amused.

The eighth goal when it came was another counter attack. Dan won the ball in the middle, played it out to Serg, who switched the play across to Jack who put in Jay to finish. The last goal was similar in that we won the ball and then quickly countered. This time Ant won the ball played it back to George passed it to Shane who found Jack. Jack ran at the defence and as they baked off, elected to strike one over the top of the keeper from 30 yards.
9-1.

A great performance by all the players and like the Avon Youth dude said - you couldn’t argue City were the better team. But please for next week whoever is in charge of the bubbly, spray Tesco’s own all over Leigh’s head but drink the Moet!! Not the other way round.

Photos not working sry

note: Ryan would like everyone to know that he in fact got a hat-trick. He is not bovered, does he look bovered? does his face look bovered? HE AINT BOVERED..."just give me the goal back!!!"
